Two local schools are investigating after reports that educators made controversial remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
At the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, officials say they are reviewing concerns about a professor’s comments. Interim Chancellor Laura Clark stressed the school’s commitment to academic freedom but also to maintaining respectful learning environments.
Meanwhile, Texarkana ISD is looking into allegations that a Texas Middle School teacher mocked Kirk’s death in class. Parents say they reported the incident after a student described the remarks, which later went viral online. District leaders say they are following policy and taking the matter seriously.
Both investigations are ongoing.
